Intimate area lasering – permanently hair-free even in summer

intimate area lasering is symbolized by female intimate area in slip with cactus in front of it

Smooth, hair-free skin is one of the beauty ideals of many women and men. The desire for smooth skin in the bikini area is also becoming increasingly popular, especially in summer. In most cases, a razor is used for this purpose. However, it is not uncommon for razor bumps or even unpleasant cuts to be the result. What’s more, the hair grows back very quickly.

Laser treatment is suitable for permanent hair removal in the intimate area without the typical skin irritation. This method uses high-frequency light pulses that destroy the hair root and thus ensure long-lasting smooth skin. In the following, we would like to provide you with comprehensive information about laser treatment of the intimate area.

Are the intimate area and bikini line the same thing?

When we talk about laser hair removal in the intimate zone, we may be referring to two different areas. Although the intimate area and bikini line are often used interchangeably, it is important to differentiate between them.

Intimate area: The intimate area describes the entire front skin area, including that which is covered under the bikini or swimming trunks. You are therefore unclothed during this treatment. However, with laser hair removal – unlike with waxing – the buttock crease is not usually counted as part of the intimate area.

Bikini line: The bikini line is the area that is not covered by bikini bottoms or swimming trunks. If you would like to have your bikini line lasered, you can therefore keep your briefs on. Hair removal in this area is particularly popular in summer, when you want to get rid of annoying hairs.

Intimate area lasering – how does the treatment work?

Basically, laser treatment targets the hair follicles and stops their growth. However, for longer-lasting results, our practice uses the innovative diode laser. Unlike conventional laser therapy, this laser penetrates the hair root. The light beams hit the skin in a concentrated beam and are directed into the melanin-containing hairs. The strong heat generated during absorption destroys the hair root.

The diode laser therefore promises longer-lasting results. However, several sessions must be carried out to achieve the desired result. The hair grows in a total of 3 phases. In the most active phase, the so-called anagen phase, the hair reacts most sensitively to the laser treatment – this is when the hair should be treated if possible. For a long-lasting and efficient reduction in hair growth, at least 6 sessions are usually necessary.

The treatment is considered safe as long as it is carried out professionally. With our doctors, you are in experienced hands. We will be happy to discuss your options in a personal appointment.

What are the advantages of laser hair removal in the genital area?

The diode laser promises long-lasting smooth skin. Laser hair removal is suitable for all skin types. Lasering the intimate area

  • is gentle on the skin and less painful: the treatment is gentle on the skin as it is not exposed to any mechanical irritation. Hair removal also offers long-lasting results and is less painful than waxing or epilating, for example.
  • reduces skin irritation and ingrown hairs: Conventional depilation methods such as shaving or waxing can cause skin redness, itching and razor bumps. These and ingrown hairs can be prevented by lasering the bikini line.
  • improves the texture of the skin: after laser treatment, the skin can feel significantly smoother and softer than with conventional hair removal methods.
  • increases your quality of life: you save time and stress by no longer having to shave regularly.
  • is more cost-efficient: The long-lasting results mean that the treatment pays for itself in the long term.

What are the restrictions for laser hair removal in the genital area?

Lasering the intimate area achieves the best effect with light skin and dark hair. Blonde and white hair cannot be removed and the skin should not be pre-tanned. Furthermore, tattooed skin, moles, mucous membranes and body orifices are excluded from laser treatment.

We do not perform this treatment on pregnant women or underage patients. Other contraindications include the use of photosensitizing medication, herpes and haemorrhoids.

From a medical point of view, there is nothing to be said against lasering the genital area during menstruation. However, you should bear in mind that you may react more sensitively to the treatment, which could make hair removal a little uncomfortable.

How do you prepare for laser hair removal in the genital area?

Make sure that you do not expose the skin to be treated to the sun for about a month before laser hair removal. You should also not epilate or wax your intimate area beforehand. You should shave your hair one to two days before the treatment appointment.

Consultation

The treatment begins with a personal consultation. During this appointment, we talk about your wishes, identify possible contraindications and explain laser hair removal to you. Of course, we will answer all your questions about permanent hair removal.

Treatment steps

Laser treatment is considered to be painless – anesthesia is therefore not necessary. After disinfecting the area to be treated, any tattoos are covered and moles are marked. You will be given protective goggles to wear during the treatment.

The laser head is slowly guided over the skin. Thanks to the integrated cooling technology, you will not feel any pain. A session lasts around 20 minutes. At the end, we apply a soothing treatment. You can leave our practice at the end of the application time.

As a rule, at least 6 sessions are necessary for satisfactory, long-lasting results. There should be 4-6 weeks between treatments.

Important care after lasering

Your skin may be reddened after the treatment; swelling is also possible. These symptoms are temporary and should subside after a short time. Care for your skin with a gentle, moisturizing lotion.

Avoid intensive sport for a few days and sauna and solarium visits for a few weeks. You should also avoid sunbathing in the near future.

Conclusion

Lasering the intimate area is an effective way of permanently removing hair, which is painless and suitable for all skin types. You can look forward to smooth skin without annoying hairs and skin irritation.
