Hair loss is a widespread problem for many women and men. Do you also have bald patches and would like to conceal them? We want to help you make the best decision for your individual needs. Find out about the features and differences between the treatments below.
FUT or FUE: Which method is recommended?
The most common variants of hair transplantation include the FUT and FUE methods. Which of the two methods is recommended? It is clear at first glance that the FUE hair transplant has significant advantages.

FUE method at a glance:
- Modern, gentle procedure
- Individually removed hair follicles
- Large number of grafts
- Minimal scarring
- Natural and esthetic results
- Less postoperative discomfort
- Faster recovery
- Suitable for short hairstyles
FUT method at a glance:
- Removal of a skin strip
- Linear, conspicuous scarring
- Limited number of grafts
- Increased risk of postoperative tension problems
- Time-consuming separation of the follicles in the laboratory
- longer recovery time
- Rather unsuitable for short hairstyles

FUT hair transplantation: the traditional method
FUT stands for “Follicular Unit Transplantation”. It is a widely used surgical form of hair transplantation. The required healthy hair is removed from a strip of skin at the back of the patient’s head. It is not necessary to shave the donor area.
Individual healthy hair roots or groups of hair are then removed from this strip of skin. These grafts must be prepared and sorted for implantation, a time-consuming process that is carried out under high-resolution microscopes. After this preparation, the implantation takes place.
FUE hair transplantation: the modern method
FUE stands for “Follicular Unit Extraction”. This procedure is considered the most modern method of hair transplantation. The grafts are extracted individually after shaving the donor area using a hollow needle at the back of the head.
The harvested hair follicles are carefully examined and selected before being reinserted via tiny incisions in the filling area. This enables precise placement of the grafts.
FUE hair transplantation by an expert
We specialize in the FUE method and only use this procedure. Because there are several advantages for you.
On the one hand, the yield of hair follicle groups is particularly high. This means that significantly more grafts can be harvested than with the traditional method, as the donor area is limited due to the size of the skin strip harvested. Secondly, there is no noticeable scar, which occurs with the FUT method and sometimes widens further due to tension. It is not uncommon for further measures to be taken, such as over-pigmentation of the scar. With the FUE method, natural results can be achieved without long and painful scars.
In addition to the aforementioned feelings of tension, the FUT method often causes severe pain. This discomfort does not usually occur with the FUE hair transplant. Another advantage is that you recover more quickly and can, for example, return to sport sooner than after the FUT procedure.
